At Egly Land & Cattle, it is our goal to raise our animals in the most natural, environmentally friendly ways possible. Utmost care is taken to guarantee the quality of life for our animals.
Our farm is family owned and operated. Bob Egly's dream of raising cattle started in 2001 and has continued to grow involving his son's family, Rob & Chris Egly, and the grandchildren.
Egly Land & Cattle is located in southwest Michigan, just 15 miles from Kalamazoo. Also convenient to Chicago, IL, Northern Indiana, Niles, St Joseph, and Grand Rapids. The farm occupies 100 acres in Paw Paw, Michigan. Our farm is certified by MAEAP (Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program) for the land and the animals. We are not "certified" organic, but is all natural with no pesticides, no hormones, no chemical weed killers/fertilizers, just naturally grown.
The breed of cattle that we raise is called a Red Devon. In 2018, we purchased a new bull, Smegly. He is a fullblood Black Wagyu. We raise all our animals right here on the farm. Bred, born, and raised! No feeder calves come in from other farms. We know our animals have never had any antibiotics, or hormones, or grains.
The grass we feed our cows is planted-pasture consisting of alfalfa, legumes, and other high quality grasses. We use the rotational grazing method with our cattle which gives them fresh pasture grass every day and helps to control parasites. We pride ourselves on the quality of our irrigated pastures, and the high quality hay that they receive through the winter months.
